what advice would you give to someone who wants to learn bass guitar?

Make sure to keep yourself inspired. Look for, listen, analyze and get into different bassists. Find your feel. GOTTA GIT’ YO GROOO0O0O0O0O0O0OVE.

On a more technical level: learn to play without a pick first. As in, play with your index, middle and ring finger. Learn your major/minor scales, and PRACTICE!

And learn the fret-board. (as in the notes of the open strings, all of the fret’s notes as relative to one another, etc.) If you’re familiar with instruments on a technical level at all, you’ll understand what I mean. If not, hit me up and I’ll explain.
